Craniosacral therapy involves gentle, precise touch intended to release tension and restore circulation and function. It s a gentle hands-on treatment where the client lies fully clothed on the table while the therapist uses a light touch to examine membranes and movement of fluids in and around the central nervous system. CST may provide relief from a variety of symptoms including headaches, neck pain and post-concussion syndrome, among many others. Releasing tension in the central nervous system promotes a feeling of well-being by eliminating pain and boosting health and immunity.

The goal with CST is to allow the body to release blockages, allowing the CSF to flow freely up & down the spinal cord. CST is thought to improve efficiency of biological processes through boosting inherent self-regulation, self correction and self-healing. The therapy can be used successfully with children and adults. Since its inception in the 1930's, Craniosacral has helped thousands worldwide to restore their health.

Dr. Michelle grew up on a grain farm near a small town in Saskatchewan. She attended the University of Saskatchewan in the College of Kinesiology and although she initially was planning to be an elementary school teacher, she decided to pursue chiropractic which allowed her to combine all of her passions: health, education, and children. She moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend Northwestern Health Sciences University where she got her Doctorate of Chiropractic - summa cum laude (with the highest distinction). Dr. Michelle is always striving to learn more and took extra classes, seminars, and courses to allow her to deliver high quality care to her patients. Her desire to serve mothers and children also led her to become certified as a childbirth educator, labour/postpartum doula, and breastfeeding counsellor. She uses gentle and specific chiropractic techniques to influence the nervous system and in turn, allow the body to heal and regenerate. It is her passion to work with entire families, especially pregnant/postpartum women and their children. This is why she is certified in Webster Technique (for pregnant women) and a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). Dr. Michelle previously had her own practice in Saskatchewan but moved to Oxford County to be with her fiance (who is also a chiropractor)! Outside of caring for others with chiropractic, Michelle enjoys reading, playing card/board games, spending time with friends/family, and all things active such as hiking and canoeing!

Dr. Michelle’s philosophy is that health and wellness goes beyond pain sensations. The body is a complex and runs through signals sent through the nervous system. By ensuring that the brain and the body are able to communicate more effectively through specific chiropractic adjustments that remove nervous system interference, our body can heal and adapt more effectively. Nervous system interference can manifest itself as a variety of different health concerns. Specific chiropractic adjustments remove this interference so the brain and the body can communicate more effectively, allowing the body to heal and adapt. This is how we become able to experience true wellness.

Her Goal is to allow patients to be heard, to educate on health, wellness, and the nervous system, and to use chiropractic care to help them reach their own health goals so they can live life well.

Dr. Michelle is also certified in the Webster’s technique which is a technique designed for pregnant women. It focuses on balancing the pelvis to create the most optimal environment for the baby and to keep mom comfortable. Through this technique and others that Dr. Michelle uses, women frequently report decreased lower back pain, sciatica, heartburn, round ligament pain, and pubic pain, as well as reduced labour/delivery times (YAY!).

Jessica primarily uses General Swedish Massage techniques but is also well versed in cupping therapy. Cupping therapy can be beneficial for many ailments including but not limited to scar healing, decreasing muscle tension, plantar fasciitis and sciatica.

Hi I am Rebecca I have been a Registered Massage Therapist for over 13 Years and love it. I specializes in contemporary Acupuncture where I focuses mostly on pain and stress. I graduated from D’Arcy Lane Institute of Massage therapy in June 2007 and was registered directly after.

I completed the course at McMaster University for Contemporary Acupuncture in December 2010, working with many great health practitioners who have worked with a variety of different athletes and pain conditions which is the main focus of the type of acupuncture I uses to decrease pain and maintain or regain muscle and nerve function to the body. This type of acupuncture works well in conjunction with massage therapy and myofascial release (which she is also trained in) to help stretch the tissues and bring circulation back into the area to help flush out the toxins that may have been released in the tissue that were trapped from injury. Another reason for acupuncture is to bring blood flow to an area for healing and to help break down and tension or scar tissue that may be caused by various reasons.

In January 2015 I took the Contemporary Cupping Therapy Course in Vancouver BC. I can do full body cupping for several different purposes. My Passion in my career has been fertility, prenatal and postnatal treatments. I have taken courses for foam rolling to help with home care, infant massage therapy instruction as well as post natal massage at the Perinatal Massage Therapy Educational Insitution where I learned alot about how to work with the pelvic floor and diastasis recti, without actually having to touch the pelvic floor. I am a mom of 2 toddlers and I have used everything I have learned on myself as well as doing personal training and Pfliates to know where to refer out when necessary but to also keep myself in the best shape and practice what I preach.

Completed assessment courses allow me to use these skills to find the source of the pain, whether it be from where the pain occurs or further from the source. November 2017 I completed the ultrasound course which helps when clients come in with more acute pain or are sore from the deep treatment or even a stubborn trigger point that needs to be softened.

I have worked in physiotherapy clinics, a naturopathic clinic, a hospital and with a chiropractor, I am aware of how all other health practitioners work together and refer to others when necessary. I am excited to be apart of The Womb Woodstock, and work in a community of like minded practitioners who will be able to support each other.

The law of nature dictates that the body naturally moves toward health. As a practitioner, it is his job to find those asymmetries or roadblocks, and normalize those tissues, so the body can naturally move toward health. Through gentle manipulation, he can use the soft tissue to affect the hard tissue, and hard tissue to affect the viscera, while appealing to the nerves, arteries, veins and lymphatics to ensure proper fluid dynamics, leading to overall improved health.

Carolyne is our lead yoga teacher here at The WOMB. A muma of 3; 2 of which were home births. After her first birth, she made education in health and wellness alternatives a priority. When she had her second daughter in 2009, she became a certified yoga teacher and from there helped her parents open up Radiant Health Yoga Studio. She has been supporting people through breathing and movement ever since.

It wasn’t until she started teaching yoga that she realized her birth experience was few and far between- something that women hoped for but rarely experienced. It became more and more apparent that there was a HUGE lack of support, information and resources and no tangible place to send mums to when it came to pre/postnatal care, so she began a Prenatal Yoga Circle.

That was in 2013, that class became a place for mums-to-be to connect, move and share. It opened them up to their options, giving them insight on the hidden gems of practitioners that were available within the community.

Later that year she took a weekend course in Doula education and a year later completed her 100hr Prenatal Yoga Certification. It was there she met Dr. Sinead Dufour, who she admires and has continued to train with over the years.

In 2015 she received her Pelvic Floor Trainer Certification with Bellies Inc. She continues to train and educate herself in Pelvic Health, and other modalities such as Movement and Trauma, Mindful Strength, Shamanic Healing and Yoga and The Facial System.

Being apart of The WOMB is a dream come true for Carolyne. She is beyond excited to be working alongside Dr. Pam Thornton, a huge mentor and leader in pre and postnatal health.

> In the end, it’s not necessarily the type of birth you have that has a lasting impression… to know you had options and freedom of choice, that you were supported in your decisions and most importantly that you were heard and you were respected , that you were treated with care and compassion. This is of the utmost importance and lasts a lifetime. EVERY woman deserves this type of care.
